Smillie Visitor Centre,
at 8.00 (Doors open at 7.45)
Entry and Tickets through the Card and Gift Shop
Admission £3.00 includes Tea or Coffee afterwards in the Visitor Centre,
and a sneak preview of the Exhibition.
Programme
Wednesday 6th August Howard McCrindle ‘The Basking Shark Creature
of Mystery’
Howard will present a fascinating insight into the habits of one of the monsters
of the Firth of Clyde. His long experience of working with these creatures
will be supported with illustrations and video of the creature in its environment.
Wednesday 13th August Margaret Allan ‘The Religious
Heritage of Cumbrae’
Margaret will provide an illustrated insight into the churches and congregations
of Cumbrae past and present and trace the connections to the ancient missionary
saints.
Wednesday 20th August Dr Jim MacDonald, ‘Volcanoes,
Deserts and Clyde
Islands’
Dr MacDonald will give an enlightening insight into the geology of the Clyde
basin and the development of many of the features which are recognisable in
the current land formations.
Wednesday 27th August Dr Alan McQuarrie, ‘Saints
of the Cumbraes'
Dr McQuarrie is a recognised expert on the Scottish Saints. He will take us
back through the history of the Saints Baya and Maura and will introduce their
connections with other parts of Scotland and Norway
