Sights to See on the Island of Cumbrae
The ferry across the Firth of Clyde from Largs offers the visitor an exhilarating if albeit a short journey, but if you can you should sit atop the ferry and look around at the beautiful scenery. Remember on a windy day however to sit on the lee side or you will get more than you bargained for.
During the Spring and Summer, visitors will find that everything is open,
but during the winter many shops are closed on certain days so it is better
to check before you set out. Some useful telephone numbers are on this page
so you can contact and pre-plan.
For
the wildlife enthusiast there are buzzards, many species of wildfowl, some
resident, some migratory and a multitude of wildlife including hundreds of
seals. Keep an eye out for the unique Millport mouse!
The beautiful scenery is fabulous at any season and is particularly panoramic from the top of the island which the visitor can access by road, cycle or foot. Golf and water sports bring visitors all year round and are growing in popularity each year. Cycling is another all year round activity for young and old alike. Whether it be a tandem or a tricycle, Millport has it all for you.

In fact the Isle of Cumbrae is a place to visit all year round whatever the
reason or season and has something for everyone.
